Dr. Kumar received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College in Davangere, Karnataka India.  He then received his master of surgery in ophthalmology from the Joseph Eye Institute, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India.  Dr. Kumar completed a clinical research fellowship at the LV Prasad Eye Institute as well as a clinical fellowship in Glaucoma at the Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital in Sydney Australia.  Following this fellowship, he completed a another clinical research fellowship at the Singapore Eye Research Institute and Singapore National Eye Center in Singapore.  Most recently he had appointments at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner School of Medicine, Case Western Medical University as a clinical professor and as well as at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, UAE.
